Journal #26

In times of despair and violence, the little things bring the most happiness. The surroundings can be filled with so much grief and sadness, but happiness is found when somebody can put those emotions aside for just one moment. For just one moment, they're able to forget about the world. In this picture, I see a man who had to see people he cared about lose themselves in battle, breathe in the smell of toxic gases and see bodies burning to their death. The forest is barren and ashy, signs that turmoil just took place and the piano is a sign of peace and enlightenment. The man runs his fingers across the keys and listens to the beautiful sounds in hopes that they'll cover up the grotesque war noises that are etched into his memory.
