I agree with Turner's statement that too few people own too much. Big companies are handled by mostly wealthy class social groups and are controlled by the same people. If the same small amount of people are controlling 90% of big companies and media, the perception of certain events become extremely biased. The news and what's shown to audiences will only represent what the people who own those businesses agree with. Essentially, manufacturing consent plays a huge role in this. For example, in the Manufacturing Consent article we read in class by Noam Chomsky, the second filter, advertising, claimed that many companies will opt out of showing commercials about the environment or organizations that help people. Since they don't believe in those organizations or charities, they won't be shown. A conservative owner will not show certain advertisements. and instead instill the ideas that they strongly believe in. This is often done by sensationalizing a product or news display.
